Bio
Paz Sher (b. 1988, Netherlands)
Sher is an installation artist, sculptor, and educator who lives and work in Brooklyn, New York. His installations appear to be playful-mad scenarios, where individual sculptures are structured into hermetic and cryptic systems of objects within a questionable site. In his work, he searches for experimental encounters of imaginative and poetic moments. Those encounters are experienced with the disappearance of language in order to reconstruct new values to hold an impossible present. His spaces reflect the movement between positions and perspectives, showcasing the mind's flexibility and transformative qualities through the metamorphosis and shift of materials.
Sher graduated with his Bachelor of Fine Arts cum laude (2017) in the Fine Art department at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem, Israel. After graduation, he was a fellowship artist at the New Gallery Artists' Studios Teddi in Jerusalem. He also holds an ED.S. Degree (2021) from Kibbutzim College of Education, Technology, and the Arts in Tel-Aviv, Israel. In 2021, Sher moved to the United States and pursued his Master in Fine Arts (2024) in the Sculpture and Extended Media Department at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA.
Sher exhibited his work in many group exhibitions in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and New York. He had one collaborative dual show at Atelier Shemi gallery, and a significant solo show at Hamidrasha Gallery in Tel Aviv (2020). During his master's studies, he displayed his work in two extensive shows, a thesis show at the Anderson gallery and a candidacy show at an alternative space.
